CELEBRATE PRINCIPLE

100_x_170_cm_tuval_uzerine_yagliboya_2012-2293.jpeg

İlke Kutlay (1982, İzmir), who developed a unique language with the animal figures and melancholic effect she uses in her works, also includes human figures in this melancholy. While the young artist portrays the figures he chooses as characters that are detached from the real world, displaying flamboyant and funny attitudes, he also places animal figures cut off from their natural environments in the same scene. All the elements in the artist's works share this irony by taking their place artificially in the created space, and the relationship between human and animal figures creates a balance by itself. İlke Kutlay, who creates fairy-tale atmospheres with this formal balance, strengthens the effect of the theme with paint, light and color technique, which is the most important distinguishing feature of her paintings.
