ARZU AKGÜN'S “LOOK” EXHIBITION AT MERKUR 

MERKUR has opened the new art season with Arzu Akgun, a young artist from Izmir, and her first personal exhibition.

 

Arzu Akgun paints the private life substances that she carried to the large-sized wooden panels grandly as well as putting a psychosocial criticism on it.  The works in question are presented in a contradictory entireness with a balanced unity of the black and cold colors and a cozy feeling created by the wooden background.   However, the structural emphases given to the wooden background and occasionally evoked the discipline of print painting, are turning into the components of a special language which has begun being more and more clear.

 

In the exhibition of “LOOK”, the artist will exhibit 16 works of hers that she made using the technique of scraping and painting on wood.

 

Arzu Akgun is currently continuing to her master’s degree in the Painting Department, Institute of Fine Arts of Izmir Dokuz Eylul University.
