What kind of suggestions can be made within the context of art in the face of the globalizing world order and the oppressive dynamics of urban life? “Sorry, Which Floor?” examines the legitimate questions posed by young curators who question the possibilities of transformation in the field of art through the relationship between the city and nature. The exhibition pursues these questions and the answers that can be brought to them.
This exhibition is not eager to present a report on the city and nature to the audience. separating the two parts of the exhibition as much as possible; however, we designed it to protect the areas of dialogue. As two young curators, we divided the widely treated city-nature duality into its building blocks; We asked whether the curation space, works or relationships would reveal the thing that excites us the most. The mood in which post-modern utopias, megacities, the distance between art and the audience and this homelessness drag us from a generation that looks directly into the eyes of the concrete effects of the forms of globalization, which is a simple question in an informal framework, but carries the tone of concrete and alienation. “Which Floor?” We wanted to transfer it.
The opening of the exhibition, which will feature the works of artists Recep Akar, Mustafa Duymaz, Didem Erbaş, Murat Germen, Şifa Girinci, Emre Kantaşlı, Volkan Kızıltunç, Manbor, Ali İbrahim Öcal and Saliha Yılmaz, will take place on January 10. The exhibition can be seen at MERKUR until 07.02.2015.
