The busy pace of the city, traffic, environmental pollution and lack of natural resourcesIs there really any room left to breathe in the face of the threat of

 

Young curators Melike Bayık and Mergüze Günay seek an answer to this question with the participation of 10 artists...

 

Ignoring nature; even the urbanization process that works against it reveals an ironic modern model of existence that is condemned to live in uniform boxes and tries to satisfy the longing for nature with different ways of substitution. Buildings that create the impression of being left from the sky to the void shape the collective consciousness in their own way: the former agricultural lands have been replaced by “magnificent” buildings and shopping centers that wash the memories with their ornate and eye-catching appearance. The masses were "exiled" from their local culture; forced to adapt to an exclusionary upper-culture, it has been left to choose absolute alienation or shelter in utopian dreams. While city life increases the desire to return to nature, the problem of the existence of an ideal place to return to is actually an expression of insolubility.  The search for a transforming and exhausting life opportunity… 

Watching the trees directing an orchestra composed of the wind... Will it be possible to lie down on the ground and watch the sky and the stars?

 

“Sorry, Which Floor?” in January.  with the exhibition that develops a discourse on urbanization, the exhibition “Nothing Happened, We Run” can be seen at MERKUR between February 10 and March 7.
