JOSE LUIS PUCHE'S “THE RIVALS OF THE SEA” EXHIBITION AT MERKUR

SPANISH ARTIST JOSE LUIS PUCHE'S PERSONAL EXHIBITION “THE RIVALS OF THE SEA” OPENS ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1, AT MERKUR.

Organized in collaboration with Galeri Xavier Fiol, The Rivals Of The Sea is José Luis Puche's first solo exhibition in Turkey. After her solo exhibition at the CAC Malaga Museum, which ended on May 17-August 26, 2018, her new works can be seen at MERKUR from November 1 to December 1, 2018.

According to Puche, it is important that a painting be presented emotionally, reflectively and analytically “in an environment where passions are released”. As the Spanish poet Fray Luis de Leon put it, “words are insufficient to describe what the soul feels.” Passion, violence, tragedy and restlessness are shown as rivals to the sea. The sea itself is referred to in the exhibition “The Rivals Of The Sea”, also known as Rivals of the Sea. The sea is a wonderful event in itself. And it's exciting to see what happens when we want to delve deeper into the soul. Just like the sea itself.

He is also an artist; After her exhibition titled “The Snow is Dancing” held at CAC Malaga, she followed the same path and reflected the importance she attached to music to her new works. The main factor for the artist to be influenced by music is that each accent catches a different rhythm while playing musical instruments.

The names chosen for the works in the exhibition are cities with special interests in classical music.  For example, the work “Shubertiade” shows a huge wave that looks like a surfer. At the same time, we see in this work the delight in the contrast between the imposing height and the severity of the fall itself. Therefore, we witness complicity with one's nature.

The Rivals Of The Sea, which is the artist's 4th solo exhibition this year and invites art lovers to the relationship between the depths of our soul and painting, can be seen at MERKUR until December 1, 2018.

About the Artist

José Luis Puche (Spain, 1976) holds a PhD in art history. His career as an artist began in 2005 when he brought his first solo exhibition home. Only three years later, in 2008, she managed to break into the international scene. Drawing; his self-taught revolving around his work  and also because of his uninhibited approach, it proves to be a truly astonishing technical skill. As a painter, his learning begins in early childhood and is the slow result of fierce determination, and owes both his technical knowledge and his evolution to the selectiveness of his gaze and the persistent and regular exercise of his trained skill.

In mimic drawings, sometimes only black and white, sometimes multi-colored tones attract the attention of the viewer.

The emotional indifference of the gray color is balanced by a physical touch rather than a pen that turns into a passionate partner dance at work. The physical touch of the pen turns drawing into a passionate dance.

The artist can use different techniques to achieve a watercolor effect. For example, using a special paint with oil and dry mixed technique.

The tendency to represent reality as fiction is clearly evident. Discovering the reality that Puche applies ultimately allows the apparent value to rise to its real value. His work clearly evokes uncertainty and creates a sense of discomfort.

While Puche is the only European artist invited to the group exhibition “9 Hour of Underground”   throughout his career, his works have been exhibited at Center Pompidou, CAC Málaga, Sydney Opera House, and YIA Art Fair (Paris), Basel Scope Art Show also took part in fairs such as New York and Switzerland. This year Puche held solo exhibitions in Madrid, Madrid Xavier Fiol gallery and Palma de Mallorca. He has also won several awards, including the International Emerging Artists Award (Dubai) in 2016.
