“MEANING OF CAT - OTHER THAN CAT” EXHIBITION AT MERKUR
Fatma Tulin; After her extensive, retrospective solo exhibition at Tophane-i Amire in November 2018 and her exhibition in Paris three months ago, she held a very intense but short-lived interesting event with a cat at MERKUR between 17 March and 11 April 2020. , describing the traces of the relationship, appears with a new show.
According to the artist, the subject is not a cat, but an entity; just like he is one of the formations that he places in the middle of his art and that determines his field of interest. Fatma Tülin examines the image as a form from a plastic point of view, like a seed, a ginger root or a human body in her previous works, and turns it into an abstract and sculptural form from time to time… But this time it is quite emotional. The exhibition creates a deep and almost obsessive effect. 200 x 300 cm. There is both a cloudy and heavy look covering a canvas of the size of each giant blot. “I don't like cute cat pictures. I am unfamiliar with the attitude of seeing the pet as an additional object of pleasantness. A relationship with a cat is serious business; There is no difference between human relations and human relations for me “ says the artist.
Indeed, instead of talking about cuteness in these works, we see Fatma Tülin's signature; Blunt, closed, deep and dark pictorial formations. Again, we encounter works in which an intense Fatma Tülin exhibition reflects its own reality in an impressive way.
