Ä°LKE KUTLAY'S “BALANCE” EXHIBITION AT MERKUR

MERKUR opens the new season with the exhibition "Balans" by Ä°lke Kutlay, one of its young artists. The artist continues the line of her previous exhibition in "Balans", her fourth solo exhibition in her career and her second solo exhibition at Merkur. Kutlay, who has developed a unique language with the animal figures and melancholic effect he uses in his works, strengthens the effect this time, including human figures in this melancholy and turning to the theme of "Circus" with a strong tragicomic aspect.
The young artist depicts the figures he chooses as characters who are detached from the real world, displaying flamboyant and entertaining attitudes, while placing animal figures that have been detached from their natural habitat in the same scene. All the elements in the artist's works share this irony by artificially taking their place in the created space, and the relationship between human and animal figures creates a spontaneous balance. Ä°lke Kutlay creates fairytale-like atmospheres with this stylistic balance, and strengthens the effect of the theme with paint, light and color technique, which are the most important distinguishing features of her paintings.
Ä°lke Kutlay's solo exhibition titled Balans can be seen at Galeri Merkur between 10.00-19.00 every day except Sunday.
