AYÇA ÅžEN'S “BADALERIS” EXHIBITION AT MERKUR

“WELCOME TO BADALARIS”
Ayça Åžen, whom we know with her radio programs, novels and columns, will be at MERKUR with her first solo exhibition between 8-28 May...

The artist's first solo is called Badalaris. AyÅŸegül Sönmez, the consultant for the Badalaris exhibition, describes Åžen's production as follows:
"Where is Badalaris? Badalaris? How to get to Badalaris? All roads to Badalaris, which we can think of as a non-existent city, a non-existent place, actually lead to Ayça Åžen's paintings. The common point of these paintings is Ayça Åžen, whom I have seen as a performance artist until today. The way in which he dramatizes the absurd, which knows no bounds in subjectivity, is entirely his own: the fact that he describes a psychological and multi-layered world as a kind of diary on papers as a material that we can find extremely private, actually enables him to reveal his privacy to the public through giant papers.
What stands out in this 'cruise' is whether we can complete this individuality...
We need to follow this visual world to reach where Badalaris is...
If we do this, it is obvious that these images coming out of each other bring the place, the non-existent, the dream, the subconscious, the invisible to its knees and bring it to the eye...
